The issue i have been having is that the keyboard is not being recognized by the motherboard. The system successfully posts and the american mega trend screen flashes, i have managed to work out that everything that should be there is there and my mouse is being recognized but my keyboard isnt. The keyboard is receiving power and i have tested it on my laptop and it works fine. I was wondering if you guys could help me, thanks alot, Louis

Is your motherboard update with the latest Bios? I see M5A97 EVO R2.0 release an Bios update on 5/14/14 to Enhance compatibility with some USB device. If the mouse work, can you boot to Windows and using the mouse to download and update the latest bios and see if that fix the issue?

Without a keyboard, it would be difficult to get to the Bios screen to check the version. This motherboard can do PS2 keyboard/mouse, is there a PS2 keyboard connector that you can use to get to the Bios?

I would have to buy an adapter as my keyboard is usb only, do you think if i just try a different keyboard it may work because if it is compatibility issues then maybe a different keyboard would work? If not i could then buy an adapter to use the port

Hi, it's ok, the area i live in is quite remote and there is literally no computer stores, i just ordered a cheap one off of amazon anyway and hopefully that will work, thanks again, Louis

Hey, i have managed to get into the BIOS using the DirectKey function on my motherboard. I have been looking around using my mouse and i have full access. I was wondering if there was any particular setting i may have to change etc? I tried to flash BIOS but you need a keyboard to select file. thanks

Hi i am writing to you from my new pc! I still have the keyboard problem though so i am stuck using this cheap ps/2 keyboard. I have updated the bios to the latest version successfully now and my usb keyboard is still not recognised :( I am starting to think that the usb keyboard is just not compatible full stop. All my other usb devices work perfectly well it is just the keyboard. Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear that. As you mentioned above you can buy a USB Keyboard to PS2 Adapter, it around $2 on Amazon. If you can borrow someone a USB keyboard and test it out see if it will work. Can you return the PS2 keyboard?
When you're in Windows, plug in the USB keyboard and does Windows detect it? Did you install the latest Mobo drivers? If you have a laptop or another PC that you can try with the USB keyboard?

Yeah think i will try an adapter, the only thing is the perixx website doesent recommend this, but will it still be ok to do, im just worried it will damage keyboard or something? I will just keep the ps2 keyboard as it was really cheap and it is handy to have.

Are you able to boot into Windows? if Yes, plug in the gaming keyboard and install drivers for it. Now you're able to get into the Bios, check with any of the USB options and see if USB keyboard is enable/disable.

Hi i have checked the keyboard manufacturers website and there is no drivers available it says it should work out of the box. I have checked the bios and all settings look fine.
