I thought I had solved the problem in my original post.

I'm having the same problem again.
My PC freezes when doing things like playing The Sims 3, video encoding or runing a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem. Malwarebytes and AVG find no active threats but I can't run a full scan with either without my PC freezing up.
I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it found no errors. I ran each of my 2 2GB sticks separately in slots 1-3 and no errors. On slot 4, I can't get either of my RAM sticks to fully fit into the slot. When I lock one end in, the other end won't lock in. I've pushed it as far as I feel I can without the risk of damaging anything. Shoud this forth slot cause a problem? I use the 2 sticks in slots 1 & 3. Slot 4 has always been empty.
