Hi guys,
Trying to compare the i3 4130 (dual core with hyperthreading) with the i5 4460 (quad core with turboboosting but no hyperthreading). The significant difference (apart from the price) is the 6M cache in the i5 compared to 3M in the i3, but most of this in both cases seems to be L3 (the 'slow' part of the cache, if that's significant).
It seems clear that the i5 is better for gaming, but I don't do gaming. It's said that the i5 is better for multitasking but c£100 extra seems overkill just to operate several apps like extra windows open in Chrome, or an unsophisticated photo-editing programme. Is the difference in performance between the i3 and i5 even going to be perceptible, and if so in what situations?
Thank you
