Hey there. I need help with this confusing situation...

So I get home, turn my pc on and around 7 seconds in i hear a noise like a stuck HDD reading something. Switched the fans speeds to check if it was fan related but it was not and as soon I logged in and tried opening the explorer, the whole thing crashed with a blue screen saying something went wrong and blah blah... Restarted and from then on I can't boot windows as it tells me that pretty much all of windows bootable files are missing. Can't acces recovery/repair tools either as it says the same. It is like the storage crashed badly and kind if erased everything in it...

Kk here is the weird part. I have two drives. A Kingston SSD of 120gb and a Seagate of 1 tera and of course the os is in the SSD. So my question is. Was the SSD doing that weird noise? Cuz as far as I kno they don't have any mechanical parts in them. If it was the HDD why did the whole OS get messed if its in the SSD?

Anyhow I checked the bios and both drives are recognizeble and I tried installing a fresh windows 8.1 copy on the SSD (I had Windows 8 before...) But just took me to the same screen saying that pretty much everything was missing, after a smooth instalation process.

I then procceded to unplug the Ssd, create a new partition with a bootable drive manager, from the Seagate empty space and installed Windows there which went normally. But, now at logging I found something weirder. It askes me to choose which os I want to log in to. It is like the previous 8.1 I installed was instaled in the Seagate instead and the other option says windows 8.1 volume 2 which I assume is the last one I installed cuz that one works fine and allows me to get in when the other option just takes me to the "can't boot. All is missing blue screen".

I managed to log in thinking I at least found out that the HDD is fine and maybe the Ssd crashed somehow but now inside the HDD with the Ssd unplugged and a working version of 8.1, I can't find the rest of the terabyte I had before containing pretty much all my data. Both partitions are recognized by windows and are tagged as healthy but the only the os partition will show and can be acceced.

So after all this mess I end up with several questions again:

1. Could the Ssd make the noises and crash the whole thing?
2. Why is the other partition showing up?
3. And which good repair software could I use to check the drives , restore data and try fix them.

I will then procced to unplug the HDD and plug in the Ssd by itself and try everything again to try figure out which drive is messed up, as soon as I get home.

Thanks for your time and help. Any hints will be really appreciated. Thanks.

From what u've said, some or all of yo OS must hav bin on t HD, which has developed a fault. Unplug it n see what happens... Then if necessary reinstall OS on t SSD without t HD installed - make it a clean install wiping all previous partitions.

Once that's working, reintroduce t HD n run tests on it.

If Windows gets confused about where t boot from, u can specify in msconfig
