I'm looking to build myself a gaming PC for the first time, but not to sure on what storage I should select. Someone recommended I get a 200 GB - 250 GB SSD for the OS and games, and a 1 TB - 3 TB hrad drive for mass storage. Is this a good idea? I already picked out an SSD, but other recommendations would be much appreciated. I would like to keep this under $1500. Thanks!

If you want to install games go for a 240gb. The 120gb will fill up quick and some games will only function properly if installed on the C drive so you can't move them off (unless you stop playing them). It won't make a difference to fps.

EDIT: also for the hard drives, wd red 3tb and seagate 3tb (i have the seagate one) are both good mass storage drives. Other than that a 1tb blue or 1-1.5tb barracuda are good too.

I run a 120GB + 1TB as a for my system. 240GB should be heaps, then work out how much you need on top. Cost vs Storage capacity. The 3TBs are reasonably priced. I would stay away from the WD Greens, not sure if they are fine now, but have had 4 out of 5 of the 1.5TB greens fail on me. To be fair the other one is still running strong.

So should I keep the 240 GB? or switch to 120 GB. Not to sure if this will affect the gameplay alot, it might, but I would like to run some FPS games on decent settings with high FPS and games like Minecraft on hgih settings w/ high FPS.

Would a Seagate ST3000DM001 work well?
