Hey guys, building a rig for myself and have 2 options which equal the exact same price.

Intel: Intel i5 4440 + Gigabyte Z87 D3SH

AMD: AMD FX 8320 + Gigabyte 990XA UD3 + CM Hyper 212 EVO OCed to 4.5Ghz

Which would perform better for the latest games and games that are coming?

(please note I will not be multitasking, just gaming)

Cheers,

Primordial Genesis

you dont need z87 motherboard with that cpu downgrade to h87 or h97 to save $ and i5 will do better in games than the amd option.

Even when the 8320 is Overclocked? and even in a game like BF4 which runs on 8 cores?

About the mobo, the h87/h97 ones don't support the fan headers I want, which is why I picked this one.

I believe the overclocked FX 8320 will do better than the Core i5 4440.

Fan headers you want? Even if that is the case, I still wouldn't go with a Z87. You want an H97 or Z97 chipset for broadwell support. The i5 will still be faster.

Cheers mate, I totally understand about the H97 situation. Can you give me some sugestions?

Also does anyone have al ink to an article about this? like an overclcoked AMD 8 core vs an i5 4th gen? I'd appreciate that.

Thanks, I was considering the Z97-K, I'll be honest for the money it seems Asus have skimped out on their board this time around, considering their usual £100+ Boards support Crossfire (x16 + x8) and usually support Overclocking with a good power Phase, now that's all irrelevant to me, however Scan have a deal on £98 delivered, and included is a Asus Echelon Headset which would cost me around £50 anyway.
