Title is self explanatory but still ...

It is a Seagate Hybrid drive 1TB....
My Hard disk sentinel shows
"10 errors occured during data transfer. This may indicate problem of the device or with data/power cables. It is recommended to examine and replace the cables if possible.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there."
Also HD Tune says Health Status as "Failed" and "End to end error detection" Data as 10 ...

I have tested the following within HD sentinel
1. Short and extended self test
2. Surface test (Read)
But found nothing

Then I tested using Seatools for windows , all tests, short, long but it passed all the tests......

Finally tested with windows "chkdsk /r" (in dos mode on reboot) but it also returned nothing, no bad sector at all...

But the drive smart data still showing the same value for "End to end error detection" that is 10... It is neither increasing nor decreasing....
Plz suggest me is there need to panic or return drive for RMA ??? what should so that its smart values show correct values.....

First Smart values will never go away even if the issue doesn't currently exist.
Secound all it saying is that data failed to be written and can be due to many different things such as but not including:
bad cables
windows failed to finish writing all data before powering off computer
you upluged drive or computer before all data was written to disk
you reset the computer while it was writing to the drive
I can can keep going on...

simple thing if the data is not changing then don't worry about it as 10 times is not much compared to the millions of write operations that have been done to the drive(each sector is a write op). There are bigger smart values to worry about like sector reallocation

Thanks for detailed information... but in my IT career Ive my seen many times that smart value changes ... like after finding bad sectors... whn I run seatools for dos and perform long tests to repair... the smart value for "Reallocated sector count" or "current pending sector count" changes back to 0 ....
So I think smart values do change time to time... but still .. in this case you may be right as the error might have occurred in the past and this particular smart attrib only adds up or as it showing the same value forever which might change in near future... whatever be the case but my HD tune is showing drive status as "Failed" which is a bit of worry for me

Back again after more than an year passed when I started this thread I have no problems whatsoever with this drive... but few days back I found that the End to end error data is changed to 12 (See Image below)

My SSHD warranty is expiring in early next year... shld I replace it .. more over, will seagate RMA this drive? As seatools for windows and dos both passes all the tests...
