As said in title there is no audio, even if I plug my headset directly in to the monitor itself I get no sound. It is an adapter with an HDMI female and DVI male, I am using a hdmi cable. Is there anyway to use my headset? Thanks.

DVI cannot carry sound.

The dvi cable only carries the video from the hdmi cable. To get audio from the hdmi cable you will have to split the video and audio before you change it to a dvi cable. All you need is an adapter/splitter. For example you can get and hdmi splitter so it duplicates the hdmi signal. Then plug one hdmi cable to your dvi adapter for video, then the 2nd hdmi get an adapter to plug your headphones into.

That's exactly what you need. There are other ways to do it with a splitter + extractor but it comes out to about the same price. I'd just go for that.
