Hey Everyone,

I will be moving to a new house and so to a new studio as well. I've got everything covered (know what I need or will need) except for my PC.

I've had some trouble in the past when the studio was in my bedroom. The guitar pickups captured a lot of the PSU noise so I went to the point of buying an USB interface and having to record guitars (with overdrive or distortion) on my Laptop.

Anyway, I will be recording all kind of instruments except for drums; I will be mixing and also composing orchestral pieces so I will need 36GB of RAM.

I'm probably going to buy a case from Nanoxia...

Rant over. What build would you recommend me?

Here's an idea with some of the specs/hardware:

Case Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 Black Ultimate Low Noise PC Case

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H LGA1150 ATX

Processor - 3.5GHz Intel 4th Gen Core i7 4770K or Intel i7 2600K

Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport 32GB (4x8GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Memory Or 32gb G-Skill DDR3 1866mhz

CPU cooler - Scythe Mugen 4 High Performance CPU Cooler, SCMG-4000

Power supply - FSP Aurum 750W CM Quiet Modular PSU, 80+ Gold

First drive bay - OS/Apps

Second drive bay or external drive - Current Projects (Audio recordings and project files)

Third drive bay - Samples/Vst’s

FireWire - Lycom PE-107 Dual 800 and Single 400 Firewire Card

Video - I don't know. The only thing I do "video-wise" is using Sony Vegas so probably motherboard video.

BUDGET is unlimited as I don't mind having to wait and save for certain gear.

I also thought of getting a MacPro, the problem is the upfront payment...

Solution
Oh its fine, I was just surprised because they are pretty rare. usb, firewire, thunderbolt, it doesn't matter as long as they do what you need them to.

The mac pro is not worth the price unless you are heavily into video editing or other professional design work. That psu is pretty overkill considering you don't even have a graphics card. I'd go for something like an rm series if you want a really quiet one or a standard xfx 550.

And you actually use firewire???? I haven't seen a person use that ever.
