I'm getting ready to start building a PC to play skyrim and similar games on ultra. I have two builds made up based on other threads and I wanted some opinions on which is better and what could be changed.

The i5/760 build is way better than the 835/270x

Both cpu and gpu are better. The psu is better. You only need 8gb ram for gaming. Try cl 9 1866 ram - only a few dollars more.

Any reason for a CPU cooler? Would it be something I could buy later if needed?
Also I have windows 7 to use and if I want 8 I could use my student discount later.
OD is for when I rarely buy cd's to put on iTunes.

Best solution

The 4690k is a very nice CPU even if you don't overclock it, by all means, buy it later, but do buy it eventually.

Trust me, I don't have the slightest idea how to overclock and the moment my pc gets a little too warm, I'll get a cooler.
Also you get the honor of having given the solution.

for the intel mobo GA-Z97X, in its memory standard specs there is support for 2133(OC) and then there is 1600/1333. does this mean that it does not support 2133 unless its an over cloaked frequency? if so the frequency you will get is only1600 but with a cas latency of 11 and it will be better if you get the 1600 version with cas latency of 9. we need someone more experienced to clear this up please.

Na, but you have to set the memory to it's default via XMP

It's acually quite easy to overclock, just fiddle with numbers in BIOS or intel XTU. I won' go in to details her though

No idea what you guys are talking about, but here's the final build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zqF4Bm
Stuck with the GeForce card and cooler will be bought later.
Hopefully I can start ordering parts next Monday!

but i'm not asking about OC. i want to know if the motherboard can use 2133Mhz ram without downgrading it to 1600.

Look at the one before
and its better etiquette to start your own thread, even if the topic is similar.
