Advice on GPU for 1440p Gaming

Hello, Current Specs are;

M/B - Asus ROG Rampage IV Extreme
CPU - i7 4930K @ 4.4
RAM - 32 GB Kingston Hyper X Beast 2133
GPU - EVGA GTX 780 S/C ACX
PSU - CORSAIR AX1200

Ive only been running good old 1080p, However have decided to upgrade my monitor as shes a bit old now, Looking at this LG 34UM95-P 34in UltraWide QHD IPS Monitor or something similair running a resolution of 3440 x 1440.

My question is would I be better upgrading my GTX 780 to a GTX 780 Ti or going Sli 780's?

From what ive read, A 780 will play 1440p fine on medium settings however I dont wont to scale back perfromance settings to far.

I play farcry 3 pretty much maxxed out, battlefield 3 on a mix of high and ultra, skyrim maxxed with a bunch of mods. Two overclocked 780s will play quite well, you'll just need to lower the AA some with the more demanding games. Like I said the biggest grief you'll have is driver issues for that resolution. I've had many, many games crash and not work because they don't like the resolution and for some games you'll be a while tweaking everythiing so that it works. I found that Flawless Widescreen has been pretty useful.

I'm running sli gtx 780s and triple 1440p monitors and am pretty happy with it. Adding another gtx 780 is the most cost effective and should do you quite well. The biggest problem you'll have is getting games to work right on that resolution.

Thank you for the replies, My previous 2 GPU's were Radeons (Both Aftermarket Cooled 1x Sapphire & 1x Gigabyte) and I wasnt happy with the temps or software so atm im staying away from Radeons. I might go with a second Superclocked 780, As my current 780 runs at 1215MHz and doesnt go over 67degrees C, This purchase is about 3 weeks away so I will continue to research. Thank you again Guys.

Hello, The 2 Radeons I had before my 780 were a Sapphire HD 4870 and Gigabyte HD 6970 both with aftermarket coolers, I dont know anyone with a 290/290X So I cant comment other then reading reviews. But from what ive seen Aftermarket 290X's still run around 80 degrees unless new ones have come to life I havent yet seen. The 4870 overclocked well but was very loud and still up around 85 Degrees C whereas my 6970 with Windforce cooler wouldnt overclock any further than 50Mhz. I dont hate Radeons just been dissapointed with my last 2 and will wait and see what they come up with next. Honestly Im tempted by the 295X... Needs some more thought. Cheers again.

May I ask what settings you Play games at with that Res, I only plan to run 1 Ultrawide monitor for gaming with my old monitor as a secondary for Other Apps (T/S, PRocon, Winamp, Temp monitoring ect.) Also how are your temps in Sli?

Thank you again for the assistance, Ive got a few weeks to decide and am curious to see how the 6gb 780 Ti performs (If its out in time, now that I know its on the way). Need to consider variables, Muchly appreciated again.
