Yet another 1866MHz with FX 8350 & 990FXA UDR

My specs:

AMD Vishera FX 8350
Gigabyte Ga-990fxa-ud3 rev 4.0
Ddr3 Gskill 2x8gb Kit 1866mhz Sniper 16gb (F3-1866C9D-16GSR)
650W psu

I've been trying to run those memories at full speed 1866MHz but I couldn't. I read most of the messages in this and other boards, and tried most of the solutions:

* Using XMP doesn't work (bios warns me it's not working and suggests me I change the settings)
* Using XMP + upping .1v or .2v to memory doesn't work either. I tried many different approaches but this always produces the same: the first time the bios doesn't even post, and I have to power the PC off manually. Then it posts (twice) and the default settings are used to start windows.

Here's the CPU-Z screenshot: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2j280mg&s=8

Any help? Is it the FXs that don't support 1866? Or is it my PSU that maybe doesn't output the volts I'm asking?

Thanks in advance!

Yep, but there's more than enough there, and the PSU seldom affects the DRAM if it were here, it wouldn't run at the lower freq either, I'm of course guessing from what little we have to work with, but am guessing that the 8350 Damien has has a weak MC (memory controller), comparatively speaking, have run into a few 8350s that really struggled to run 1866 and GB mobos don't always regulate voltages that well -

Another thought is to ensure you have the latest BIOS

Try this and if it still no luck, work your way up to 1.65v RAM voltage (1.7v is even within tolerance) and 1.4v CPU-NB.

Hi! I tried DRAM 1.65v and NB 1.4v just like you said but it doesn't even boot. I got to access the bios and set it back to auto (1333Mhz) but it still doesn't boot.

I still have to try out resetting the bios, but will not get to do that until tomorrow.

Thanks spooky2th! You saved my life, I'm embarrassed I misread the manual and forgot there should be an empty slot between the sticks.

I put one in DIMM_1 and the other on DIMM_2, enabled XMP, and now they're working fine at 1866 and dual channel.

Hey guys, now it won't even post :( Did I burn the motherboard?

I tried removing the memories, and then it beeps. Tried removing the PCIe graphics card, and then it beeps. But whenever I have it all connected, it doesn't post and it doesn't make a sound. Sometimes the CPU fan won't start, but most of the times it will. I also tried clearing the CMOS. Any help? Thanks!

BTW: should I create a new thread?

Hi logang! Thanks but I tried that already. Any other ideas? Is it possible that upping the voltage to DRAM 1.55V and NB 1.40V burned it? I don't see any leaking capacitor.
