Hyllo all! I've been trying to figure a decent motherboard for about a bit now and my brain hurts. My first build and I'm trying to digest everything but I could use some help. XD Here's what I'm working with:

i7 4770k (LGA1150)(I've already got the processor)

8gb 1600ram Either Dominator Platinum/Vengeance Pro

750w CX Corsair

120/250gb Samsung Evo SSD

Graphite Series 230T Case (Mini Itx/Atx/Micro Atx)

Not planning to use a Graphics/sound card just yet. Really just need to get this PC up and running and I will probably not be overclocking it. No intense Hardcore gaming but I may delve into it a tad/editing in the future. I've got watercoolers in mind after the fact too potentially. ANyway, my dilemma is I don't know enough, or rather am not comfortable enough yet to firmly pick one out.

I was debating on getting a Mini Itx because I plan on getting the 380T corsair case in the future at some point, but I may put that on hold for a bit.

The only MoBo I have come across with good reviews so far is Asus/Asrock and the only ones I've actually looked into a little is:
Asus Z87/Z97/H87
and the Hero series.

If an ATX board would merit a better deal I am OK with not downsizing later and will probably conduct a second build for the 380T. XD

Anyway, my only actual requirements is that it have 2 usb 3.0, minimum of 16gb expand ability, at least 1 PCIe slot, and can handle what I have in the aforementioned list. I'm still learning about all the additional gaming things (crossfire/SL/such) so I'm not worried about that at the moment.

Just a general PC with potential to grow and adapt should I want it to later.

I'd like to keep it under $150 but realistically speaking it would be better under $110 if possible.

So, any recommendations, or references would be GREATLY appreciated! Either Atx or Mini-itx boards or both if your feeling generous! ^__^

Also, I probably won't "need" anymore than 16gB of ram but I can upgrade to 2x8gb for about $50 more than the 2x4gb of ram I've yet to buy, what do you all think?

It's a lot to read and I appreciate the reads!

as you've paid a premium for a high end unlocked CPU i7 4770k, you should really get a mobo that allows overclocking even if you're not going to do it now, you might think in the future that a "free" 30% boost to performance is worth it.
So look for Z87 or the newer Z97 mobo. I find the Asrock Extreme series very good value and performance. Extreme 3 is generally sufficient.

This board is a little over your max limit but why not future proof your self some.

That's not a bad start at all. THanks ^__^ It's not way off budget or anything so that's OK. I'm realistically expecting $120-$135 for a good deal unless there is some insane deal.

I've been thinking the the z87 in general but I've just yet to see all my options or at least a majority. I'll look into the z97 and Asrock extremes in a bit. What is your opinoin on this?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the determining factor on whether a Mobo can be overclocked is the CHipset correct?

That GA-Z87-HD3 is a decent board. The Z87's or Z97's are very overcklockable. I have read that the Z97's are slight improvement in this area over the Z87 boards. Depends on the CPU too.

The memory and cpu are the over clocked components. You need a decent board and cpu to to that. The memory controller is in the CPU.
