Okay so I will just go through my chain of events as they happened.

1: Received my new graphics card(ASUS geforce GTX 760) and new processor(AMD FX black)

2: Installed them in my computer.

3: Computer would not run. Assumed it was problem with power supply.

4: Replaced power supply with Corsair CX750M

5: Pc will now boot.

6: PC will no longer send signal to monitor.

7: Noted that my new graphics card needed a DVI-D or DVI-I connection. (I had plugged my monitor VGA into my motherboard section on the back panel of my PC for my last graphics card and had it set the same here)

8: Took out new graphics card and put back in the old one. Plugged back in VGA. Still no signal to monitor.

9: Connected VGA directly to graphics card. Still nothing.

Now I'm here. Please help.

My theories:

1: Motherboard fried?

2: Processor not compatible? I have a amd3 in a 3+ socket.

Yes I have the Mobo and the GPU connected. The GPU powers on and its fan spins, and the processor fan on the mobo spins aswell. Yes the psu is on correctly.

My mobo is a 760GM-P34(FX)
Processor 4.0 GHZ FX 8-core Black Edition.
PSU Corsair CX705M
I have no idea what my old graphics is because it only has serial numbers on it.
New graphics card is Geforce GTX760 DirectCU II OC

Try a CMOS Clear.

Okay.
Old Processor was a AMD FX-Series FX-4100 (3.6GHz)
Old GPU was a NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 1GB

These both worked on the mobo

Yes the FX-4100 is supported it's only 95W. Your new CPU the FX-8350 is 125W and not supported. Read your motherboard's website for supported CPUs.

In theory. Assuming you didn't damage anything from trying to hammer a square peg into the round hole.

Okay. So I undid all that nonsense and am back to old gpu and old processor. It turns on and runs like it used to.

So if I want to use my new processor i need a new mobo?

Would it be better to get a new mobo or a different processor. Now this is with me wanting an upgrade for my processor.

Your processor is okay, you need a new motherboard because the old one is too lazy and can't handle your new CPU. Try ASRock 990FX Extreme3.

It's ok Meef, I get stuff wrong too. I forget 2 things for every 1 thing I learn. That's why I started writing my knowledge down in these FAQs so I don't forget.
