Reboot Error After Unplugging Computer

Hey all, I will try to make this concise and to the point but include everything necessary.

I have a custom built PC running W8 that is installed on a SSD. I also use another HD for most of my storage. Anyway, I have it plugged into a surge protector. I found out that you can still put PC into hibernate mode in W8 even though it's tricky to do. I did that last night when I went to bed. My rig has an issue with waking itself up from sleep or hibernation though and popped back on as I was going to sleep last night.

Got annoyed, unplugged surge protector from wall (it was done booting up by the time I did), and figured I would plug back in tomorrow and attempt to fix the wake up glitch.

Plugged surge protector back in this morning and found it wouldn't boot up. Tried both boot options including the SSD where OS is installed and I still get "Reboot and select proper Boot device" message.

Inserted W8 recovery disk. Refresh of Windows says SSD where OS is installed is locked. Got into command prompt and ran chkdsk for both SSD and HD and both said no errors found. And I tried the "Automatically repair startup errors" button which ran but to no avail. Still can't boot up.

Hesitant to do another clean reinstall unless I absolutely have to, especially for such a stupid hangup.

To clarify, I've never run into this problem before and I did not change anything significant last night that would've caused this error.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!!

Could try bootrec /fixmbr from CMD Prompt...

Tried that. /fixmbr and /fixboot worked, while /rebuildBcd said I currently have 0 drives with Windows installed. It was installed on my SSD.

Where I'm at now: SSD not showing up in BIOS, command prompt or elsewhere. Basically it is not recognizing my SSD at all... hope I didn't fry it! Thought perhaps it may have been a bad SATA port on the MOBO so I moved it to a new one. No dice....

Now being told it cannot find any OS on startup. Can only boot from disk. Contemplating fresh install of Windows on larger storage HDD unless anyone knows how to get my SSD to wake up???

Not looking good if it can't be seen in BIOS... The only SSD diagnostic I know of is SSD Life, not bootable as far as I can tell, but if you install Windows to your HDD at least you can try from there.

Initially I thought it was viewable in BIOS because under boot options it was listed as SS: HL-DR-ST BDDVDRW UH1....

Upon further inspection I realize I'm a moron and that's my optical drive.

Is it possible I fried my SSD by unplugging while it was running or by any of the bootrec stuff I did trying to fix it? Hope not....
