Well I have Dell Inspiron 3537:
i7-4500u
HD 8850m 2 GB GDDR5
8 GB RAM
I installed Far Cry 3 and I can't even play it on low to medium setting. In AMD Catalyst it is set on high performance.I was able to play Tomb Raider on High Settings with 40 FPS.
I have AMD Beta Drivers 14.6.It has only 9 FPS on low settings at the beginning of the game.

More about : cry low performance

Far cry 3 is a heavy game, A more powerful graphics card is needed...

Well look at this video.A laptop with same graphics card and weaker CPU can play it on High Settings.

Look closely, they are playing at a resolution of 1366 x 768, have AA and alpha to coverage completely off. They also have shadows and post FX set to low. So they are not running it on full high settings at all. My guess is that you are trying to run the game at 1080p, right?

I run it at 1366 x 768.It's my native resolution.I think the problem is the game doesn't use the dedicated GPU.

Well I somehow made it work.I installed 14.4 stable drivers. Now on medium settings i get up to 80 FPS but there are sudden FPS drops down to 20.This game is poorly optimized.

It's not poorly optimized. I have a mid-range PC and can run it fine on ultra. Your HD 8850m is less than half as strong as a GTX 660, and the 660 is mid-range. It's your PC.

This game plays better with nvidia cards...

I suggest you try bioshock infinite or crysis 3 on low to medium settings...

I have the 6750m on my MacBook pro 2011 and crysis and bioshock run well with the settings turned down...

The above games like tomb raider work well on AMD systems.

I'm not sure about Crysis because you have a dual core with hyperthreading. I have a 4 core with hyperthreading.

I know this thread is old but I was inactive for some time. Just to answer your question i can play Bioshock Infinite on High settings(not custom, high preset) and 1366x768 resolution with 40 FPS
