Hi I am currently am using a AMD Athlon II x4 630 on a Msi 870-G45 Mother board, and a 750 + 80 gold power supply. For my video card I'm currently running a hd radeon 7750. What I am asking is can my mother board upgrade to a 7950 or r9 270/x? I'm getting it for a extremely discounted price. Thanks!

This is my motherboard http://ca.msi.com/product/mb/870G45.html#hero-overview.

That CPU will bottleneck the 7950 and also the R9 270X to extent.
Your motherboard is capable of supporting either card, due to the PCI-E X16 slot.

This is what I would do;

Upgrade to the 7950, even though there is a bottleneck you will get far better performance with that then your 7750, trust me the difference even with the bottleneck is huge. With a bottleneck, the card is not damaged in any way, just being limited in performance.

Later on, upgrade your CPU to a Phenom X6.
