I have a desktop on the way (Building it with a freind) and the case i have only has slots for 3.5Inch SATA hard drives, and my laptop's is a 2.5Inch, would i still be able to use it? Also, would i need to wipe any data because i have lots of games on it..

Thanks

A 2.5'' HDD will work, you may just have to purchase an 2.5'' to 3.5'' adapter tray so that it can be secured properly on tour case. But the rule of thumb is to never use an old hard drive in a new build. They become less reliable and could develop faults more than a new one, and new technologies mean new hard drives are getting faster.

Not that I know of, you would have to do a complete reinsatl, providing the disc is multi license

Well, since me and my freind are students, we get access to Microsoft DreamSpark. What gives us access to free operating systems (Win8 etc) but i was wondering how i could get this onto my new PC with no new operating system, since we don't get a disk, we just get a download. -.-
