Hey guys! Planning to build my first PC soon! :)

As the thread title says, will the AsRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 support the AMD FX-6300 AM3+ CPU straight out of the box with 1600mHz RAM?

PCPartPicker told me that some "older 970 motherboards may require BIOS updates" before AM3+ CPUs can be used. Does the 970 Extreme3 R2.0 require such a BIOS update? If so, how do I perform the update? Will I need a supported CPU?

Also, will the motherboard support 1600mHz RAM straight out of the box? According to the tech specs, "OC" is required for it to support 1600mHz and above RAM. I am assuming that the "OC" stands for "over clock". It also says that only some CPUs will support 1600mHz RAM. If I were to install the FX-6300 into the 970 Extreme3, would it support 1600mHz RAM without any need for over clocking or changes to settings?

Here's the supplier I'm buying the motherboard from:

Thanks in advance for your help guys! :D

that motherboard and CPU should work out of the box, if not it is very simple to flash BIOS to a supported version.

You do need a supported CPU to run on that board in the first place, your FX is supported.

that motherboard and CPU will support 1600Mhz ram, 970 chipset is capable of 1600Mhz and these days Ram speed is more determined by CPU, which the FX 6300 can also support 1600Mhz.
