It's not meaningful. The system produces sound as a stream of digital data. It then hands it to a device to convert to analog data (voltages) to drive a speaker or headphone.

The sound card is a device that will do this.
USB headphones have a device that will do this built in.

So one or the other has to do the conversion. Someone once asked about converting the output of the sound card to USB so the USB headphones could plug into it, but that's the wrong way to go. Use one DAC (digital-to-analog converter) or the other and keep the signal path as simple as possible.
