I recently moved my computer to my bedroom upstairs so I was forced to borrow a long Ethernet Cable (it was 9m long) from my friend. The issue is, when I tried to plug the cable to my modem, then to my computer, I got an internet access but I cannot browse any page, it takes too slow. (I can ping websites btw) then I tried to plug it to my laptop, it works perfectly fine. No issues about loading or anything. I brought down my computer (where the modem was) and plugged my older Ethernet Patch Cable and the internet connection works fine. So what do you think would be the problem?

Desktop Network Card: Via Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter
Laptop Network Card: Atheros 8131 PCI-E Gigabit Network Controller

Nah you can't get it. I got 2 ethernet cables. One is labeled cat5e Networking Cable(9m) and the other one is cat5 Patch Cable(less than a meter). The networking cable works fine on my laptop, no network connection issues but on my PC it has no internet access. Then I replaced the Networking Cable with my Patch Cable, then the internet connection my PC works fine. I've been using the Patch Cable before when my PC is downstairs together with my modem.

Ok then now i get it.
It sounds like auto MDI/MDIX issue. Seems like laptop lan card supports it and the PC one no.
Solutions are 3:
- you need to reassembly RJ45 plug on the 9M cable so it will be crossed not straight
- you need to get a lan card that supports auto MDI/MDIX
- you need to get a switch witch will do the job above for you

The 9m long ether cable is on TIA/EIA 568B cross wiring. So there is a problem with the LAN Card? I found another Ethernet Cable which is on T568B straight wiring (included in my cousin's wireless router) and tried it to my PC directly to my modem and it works fine. Sadly, it was too short to reach my PC when i put it upstairs. And btw, the Patch Cable(Cat5) has only 2 pairs of wiring when i looked at it.
