I used to have a gtx 460 1gb, but it recently died while playing Minecraft. It had been overheating for a long while, even just after playing for 5 minutes. I don't know why. But yeah, it died.

I can't extend my budget.

Right now I'm looking at nvidia gtx 650 1gb and amd radeon 7770 1gb.

Will either of these graphic cards be better than my old gtx 460?

Can you recommend me some others?

I would personally go with the Nvidia card, they are slightly better for minecraft.

However, Minecraft rarely needs to use the GPU, as the games speed is based on CPU performance

Neither of those cards are better than your current 460

Take a look at this chart for reference:

If you can't afford a better card right now I would probably try to dismount the heatsink on your card, clean it and reapply new thermal paste. It isn't very hard to do. You may even consider baking the card in the oven (google for more info).

I think you would at least need a perfomance gain on 25-30% when buying your next card. Otherwise it'll just be a waste of moneyr.

What resolution are you playing at by the way?

My current gpu shows random lines on the screen. I tried to see for burnt parts on the gpu but can't see anything. Tried with another card and the pc works fine. I used to play minecraft on 1920x1080 with 250-300 fps with my old card and i5 cpu. Don't remember exact model.

And when I got to know about the over heating, I cleaned the card inside out, it worked for a week, then died.

Well tough luck then. But just try to bake it anyway. If it's dead it's dead.

I edited my previous post. Take a look at the links. You can get a R7 260X for around 120$, which is slightly better than the GTX 460.

Alright, I think it looks fine. Should I get the 2gb version or 1gb version (if it exists)? Also, what can I do to prevent future burning and overheating? What are the factors hat can screw up graphic cards?

The newest games are beginning to take up to 3 GB og VRAM but that is if you are running the game on max settings. 2 GB is always nice to have for 1920x1080 but it depends on how high settings you are running as well. Personally I would go for the 2 GB version.

To "prevent" overheating make sure that you buy a card with decent cooling (meaning don't buy a reference version since they almost always have a poor cooling solution).

Otherwise it's all about monitoring your system with a software that can keep an eye on your temperatures (Like HWMonitor). Have it running in the background when gaming and take a look at the max temperatures the GPU reached while gaming. That will give you are good indication whether or not your card is getting enough cooling.

Things that screws up graphic cards:
Heat / Poor cooling
Poor overclocking

Alright, thanks. I used to use speedfan to monitor the heat and the old card used to reach 65 at times.
I'm gonna mark your answer as best. Thanks!
