I have been looking around going between the FX and the AMD Athlon; and decided to go with the Athlon. My thing is that I have never heard of them and I am kind of hesitant. I here good reviews but at the same time I here bad reviews. I plan on going with this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157462&nm_mc=AFC-C8 as of how I have a 750TI. For this price the board seems to be to good with PCI-E 3 and other stuff for that price.

The Asrock Extreme 9 is one of the BEST on the market , and the Killer from Asrock is the best deal right now.

Asrock is good but not the best one. If you want to use the pcie3.0X16, then you have to buy the FM2+ CPU, not the Athlon. But the difference performance between 2.0 and 3.0 that will be about 10%, here is review. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/07/18/pci_express_20_vs_30_gpu_gaming_performance_review/1#.U5tMsXZ5Jc0

And when you buy the PC component, don't cut corners on PSU ( related to the GPU) and the MB ( related to the CPU), Like for MB you need think about you need upgrade the CPU later or not, want to OC or not, how many cpu or case fans you need, because the MB has limit fan headers, etc.
