Windows 7 stuck in start up repair

Computer crashed last night and when I restarted it the start up repair screen loaded. I left it for hours and it just kept saying it was looking for issues.

Restarting this morning as thought it must have crashed but left it all day and it was still stuck there.

Tried starting in safe mode but hangs on a loading windows files please wait screen

Need to do a disk check either though a BIOS utility if there is one for your computer or from a boot disk like Hirens or Ultimate Boot CD. This error is often a sign of a bad hard drive. If you have stuff you need on the drive without a backup, stop things now, buy a new drive, install Windows on that and copy your old files from the old drive to the new one. You'll have to re-install programs but at least will have your documents.
