Hi all,

I just built my first PC last night. I am having an issue getting video output from my graphics card. It looks to be plugged in as the fans are spinning on it. Video output works from my motherboard.

I've looked at other forums and went into the BIOS and the display was set to PCIe1.

Here is a list of my system specs.

Intel Core i5-4670K processor
Gigabyte ATX motherboard (GA-Z87X-UD3H)
EVGA - 600B 600W Active PFC Power Supply
XFX - Double Dissipation Edition AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card
WD - Mainstream 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive for Desktops
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Like I said this is my first build, and it took me hours because I was so nervous lol. But I installed windows 8.1 and I am thinking my last step is to get video output from my Graphics Card.

I currently am using an HDMI cord from my motherboard to my tv, because I do not have any DVI cables for my computer monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you install the graphics card in first PCIe slot? (closest to the CPU). Have you checked that the graphics card has all power sockets plugged in? (not sure if it's one or two for the 280X). If the power supply is modular, ensure that the PCIe power cable(s) are secure at the power supply. If you have checked all this then it sounds as if the card could be faulty.

Yes, the graphics card is in the first PCIe slot. It has an 8-pin and a 6 pin on the card. I have plugged ini the cords from my power supply marks PIC-E into the slots.

Is there any other way to tell if the graphics card is faulty other than no video output? I am assuming this is under warranty since I just put this together last night.
