I already bought a VII hero to use with the 4790k. I have some questions,
1 - I want to know if i need to upgrade de bios before using the cpu,
2 - also I want to know if I can use 2.0 devices on the 3.0 port normally without any problem.
3 - Does the hero have the same usb problem as the z87 version?

Solution

Oh cool, I didn't know it could do that. In that case, I don't see any reason not to update it to the latest version. If there is a usb issue, I'm sure it won't last long. ASUS is pretty good about fixing things.

always a good idea to put on the latest bios when doing a fresh build... but it might come with the latest bios already. worth checking.

you should always be able to use a usb 2 device in a usb 3 port... and visa versa.

obviously it just wont tranmist at 3.0 speeds.

dont know about the hero usb issues...

1 - you need the cpu to get into the bios at all, so you can't upgrade without the processor
2 - usb 3 is backwards compatible, so you can plug in a usb 2 device without any problems
3 - what usb problem are you referring to?

Cant I upgrade without the cpu using the usb flashback ?
I was talking about the issue of USB that was found in Z87 Hero, about the usb 3.0 stopped working for no reason. I think revision C1
EDIT: found this info http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/usb_bios_flashback_guide/

Yeahh, it is simple . Need to update since the first release does not support the i7-4790k. Thank you
