I have set the boot device priorities correctly. i have tried a usb. flash drive with linux on (formatted on a mac book pro, would this be an issue?) i have a disc with windows 8.1 but when i turn the computer on it shows a message saying reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key_
my specs are :
AMD FX 6300
SAPPHIRE RADEON R9 270X
2X4 GB KINGSTON DDR 3 RAN
1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA HARDRIVE
MSI970A G43 MOBO
EVGA 500 W PSU
Any suggestions as to what has gone wrong?

Do you have secure boot turned on? and are you picking a device from the boot list that shows something like this?: 1:UEFI:D VD Drive or 2:UEFI:USB Kingston drive?

With the Windows DVD in the computer power on the computer and tap the "F12" key ad set it to boot from the DVD. you should then be in the install processes.

In the bios, you need to go into Windows 8 Options and turn on Secure boot, and also make sure that is uses UEFI and not Bios legacy mode.
