can someone recommend a real good power strip with surge protection for my tower and other components?

Solution

Found one on Newegg. This one seems to be popular and very affordable.

Many surge protectors come with a warranty to cover connected equipment if it is damaged due to a power surge. Buying something like that, how will you collect if you want to exercise your warranty.

Here in the US, electrical equipment are tested and must pass the Underwriters' Laboratory certification to be sold to consumers. If you buy something that cheap from a Chinese importer, has it passed any certification or tests?

Do you really ant to protect your nice computer with the cheapest, untested unit you can find?

I know that company. i have a few of their fans for my pc and they are really good for not a lot of money.
I think i will get that power strip thanks!

You really crack me up. "Office grade" with no specification of the Joules surge it will suppress. No equipment warranty. It's a really nice extension cord with a circuit breaker. Even though it says "surge protector" it is not a surge suppressor.

This is a surge suppressor. Look at the specifications and see if you can tell the difference. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812120401
