Recently bought a new External Media Player and transferred everything onto it.

I'm having no problems playing the files but when i went to delete a folder i got an error message saying that the file directory is corrupt or unreadable.

I can delete the files by using AVG shred but the folder is still there.

I tried to use the diskcheck but i get this error message:

Any ideas? I'm hoping there's a solution that still allows me to keep all my files.

Has the error resulted in making the whole disk unreadable, or have just lost one folder? if the former, try 3rd party Recovery Software like Recuva or Easus Data Recovery Wizard.

The whole disk unfortunately, but unusually i can still open the video files and watch them. I 'll give that a try!

Edit: This may take a while, estimated roughly 2 days before easus finishes searching :p

Did it alot quicker but it sadly made no difference, the files aren't gone but still functioning on the hard drive, i just can't delete any of them :/

I can delete them if i copy them to somewhere off the drive .

At the moment i am copying everything off it in order to format the drive but i'm hoping there is a better solution.

I think it might be caused by not safety removing the usb but it never lets me stop it via the computer as it's always in use. I can't turn it off while it is connect to my laptop.

i decided to go into properties>tools and run the check that way. No luck i just get the message that "there was a problem scanning this drive", "unable to scan drive, close box and try again".

Any ideas?

Can't think of anything else to try. Does 'Eject' work in Windows Explorer when you want to remove it?
