Hey everyone,

Im building a new computer and I have 2 extra noctua NF-F12 PWM fans and a hyper 212 EVO. I was wondering if i should remove the fan that comes with the hyper 212 EVO and replace it with one of the noctua fans instead or keep the Hyper 212 EVO as it is with its fan and move the 2 noctua fans somewhere else. Could someone give me their opinion on this? thanks!

PS: the noctua fans are 120mm

Solution

I agree.
The single Noctua fan would help a lot, but the 2nd on the CPU cooler would be very, very minor (the Noctua NH-U12S had about a 1degreeC difference between one and two fans).

So use the 2nd fan as either INTAKE or EXHAUST, attached to the motherboard and use the motherboard fan control software to ramp speed vs noise (i.e. fan at say 40% until 40degC then ramp up).

*Maybe use as the top-rear EXHAUST, use a fan splitter and have both fans connected to the CPU_FAN controller.

A single Noctua fan will perform just as well but be much quieter. Use the 2nd one elsewhere, maybe as a case fan for exhaust like photonboy suggests. ;)
