Did you plug in the case speaker? If you put it on your motherboard and listen when you hit the power button it should have a serious of beeps. If it's one short beep that usually means it detects everything and everything is fine, but if it has a series of beeps, short/continuous, you can consult your motherboard manual and see what that series of beeps means.

For example when I built my PC, when I hit the power button I had fans spinning, but no post. The case speaker made a long beep, followed by two short beeps which on my asus motherboard meant no RAM detected. I just didn't have my RAM sticks pushed in all the way.
