Boots Up in Safe Mode only apparently as default

After a virus suppressed most browser and mail connections, a tech support person put my pc desktop in Safe Mode and thereafter it will only boot to Safe Mode. Can't work on the virus problem until I can get it to boot or get the phone number of AVG or McAfee support to get a virus program on boot CD.

It is not a graphics problem, at least not one caused by my hardware or drivers.

I have run chkdsk /f /r and sfc /scannow; system restore to earlier with no change.

Can anyone help?

More about boots safe mode apparently default
  1. I see you need some help so I will do the best I can. The fact you cannot boot into non-safe mode maybe due to startup programs/services. So what I would like you to try is to boot into safe mode and disable these items. To do so you do the following:
    Once in safemode
Click Start > Run> enter msconfig
Under General tab > Click "Diagnostic Startup"
    Click Apply > then OK.
The program will ask to restart your computer. Do so.

    I hope this helps! :-)
