I Have 2 Western Digital 3TB HDD's and When I go to plug them in to my Thermaltake blacx duet
it causes the lights to blink very dim when powered on (NOTE: Only one drive is seated at a time) The problem seems like its a short, but I personally have no idea on how to fix that on the drive. Anybody have any insight for me?

go to the WD.COM website and download their tool... test your drive... if it fails RMA it.

Yes, replacing the diode would be better than just removing it. My FAQ tells you what to do.
