Hey everyone. I posted yesterday about air cooling vs liquid cooling and it sounds like air cooling would be fine for me. My new question is if I were to get a Cooler Master Haf X case, what would be the best fan(s) to use and what kind of configuration should I build? Thank You

1. Noctua - expensive.

2. Corsair

HAFX - should already have pretty good cooling with -
Front: 230x30 mm red LED fan x 1
Top: 200x30mm fan x 2 (one is optional)
Side: 200x30mm fan x 1
Rear: 140x25mm fan x 1

All you could do is add another 230mm fan at the top. Larger fans spin slower to get same airflow as smaller fans. And so are usually quieter.

I wouldn't replace any of the fans unless they were noisy. I wouldn't add any more fans unless it was getting too hot in the case.

The Fans that come with the case are fine.

There are a number of good air cpu coolers. As of recently I considered the one I was running to be as good if not better than
whatever is out there. It is the "Thermaltake Frio Extreme". "Hardware Secrets" has a good review.of it.
Here is the link:

This may not be the quietest but it cools my FX9590 Just fine,
It is not cheap, But worth every penny.

If you want 120mm fans with LEDs get the Cool master Jetflos they provide great airflow and dont cost as much. or you can go with I7Baby's suggestion of getting 200mm fans. which i personally dont like, but thats just me

Hi Bobkolb
The coolermaster HAFX is a great choice for a build with fantastic airflow.
I have two NVIDIA hafx cases and have set them up the following way , i am running air cooling
I have standard 230mm fan in the front
bitfenix spectro pro led fan in the rear for its high airflow and quiet noise @ 86.73CFM @ 22.8Dba but mine is at 7v for about 18Dba
I removed both front 5.25 hotswap bays and backplates and installed one of these , it has a dust filter and you can replace the fan which is what i did with a Bitfenix spectre pro 120mm led fan 56.22 CFM @ 18.9dba

this gives me great airflow direct into my cpu cooler aswell as the top portion of the installed graphics card 120mm fan , i added one more top 200 mm fan and replaced the side panel fan with a 200mm bitfenix spectre pro led fan and removed the air duct
i am running sli and have positive air pressure in my case which means less dust in my case , i also have a NZXT havik 140mm cpu cooler

hope this helps

The Big 3 Air coolers are:

1. Phanteks PH-TC14-PE .... about 0.5C better than the Noc
2. Thermalright Silver Arrow ... sometimes ties, sometimes just gets beat by above
3. Noctua DH-14 - 0.25 to 0.50 behind

All will do 7-10C better than a Hyper 212.

The reason the Phanteks does so well is the great fans so the following should be no surprise.

As for fans....performance / noise ratio is the governing criteria.....the Noctuas were the reigning king .... The Phanteks fans win by 3C while the Nocs are spinning 25% faster.

Lastly I will say that the HAF-X was one of my favorite cases ever..... but to my eyes and most reviewers, it's gotten a lil long in the tooth. Hate to sound like a Phantelks groupie but this won Case of the Year for 2014. Windowed version sold out already on newegg

Phanteks Pro - 9.5 rating - http://benchmarkreviews.com/15792/phanteks-enthoo-pro-tower-case-review/6/
HAF-X - 9.1 rating http://archive.benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=903&Itemid=61&limit=1&limitstart=5

Hard to tell i he just meant case fans or fans as i air cooling .... took the safe route and answered both.
