Need to know if I have to put the Thermaltake chassis fans headers on the motherboard for ASUS 4 way Optimization to recognize them. There are currently 4 fans on the chassis that go to a controller on top of case - Lo - High - Led - Reset.
I don't know if the Asus optimization will recognize and control them UNLESS they are connected to the mb.

Thank you

it does not really matter if the tt fans are hooked to their controller , its not a big deal at all to have them all on your mobo
if that is what you wish to do
Your motherboard has the 4 cha_fan 4 pin headers on it so connecting them should not be a drama however you may need some fan extension cables , not sure if the fan cables will all reach your mobo.
Here is a link to your case manual

and your mobo manual

a handy tip for you , if something is to small to read , hold in the control key on your keyboard and use your mouswheel scroll to enlarge or make smaller

I believe all the chassis fan headers are 4 pin on that MB. So you would probably need to use 4 wire PWM fans for the MB to be able to control them. 3 wire fans will probably run at full RPM all the time. Besides, if your case has an integrated fan controller, you would be able to control the case fan speed (and noise) according to your taste. Personally, I would prefer the fan controller.

mickyphoenix,
Thanks so much for your reply.
My new mb is the ASUS X79 Deluxe
I "like" the thoughts of the 4WayOpt... controlling all fans...however, you are suggesting to keep the fans shown in the .jpg from TT) connected to the TT controller - AND - any other fans I install, use the MB headers and 4 Way Opto...

You would not suggest moving "those" fan headers to the mb so ALL fans could be controlled by 4 Way??

I'm just trying to understand if "it's that big of a deal" to not have all fans controlled by the 4 Way Opto..

ALSO - love the TT picture. My owners manual that came with the chassis is so small I can hardly read it....Is there a TT site that would show my chassis like the jpeg you furnished?

Thanks so very much for your thoughts and input.

Hello sir,
The build has gone very well - all hardware in, and all fans are routed for connection to mb.
Will finish up all connections tomorrow after church.

The ONLY connector that I "cannot" find is where to plug in the little on-board pc speaker. It came with the TT Case,
but I cannot find it. Have looked at the mb manual in .pdf, large enough to see well - and I cannot find it. There is no
on-board pc speaker that comes standard.

Appreciate all of your help.

Tom

Hello friend,
THANK you. I've had 7 previous builds and all the the mb's had the on-board pc speaker already "made into board".

I put my good "cheater glasses" on and saw it right away....I was looking in the middle of board where all the previous on board speakers had resided.

Thanks again. Sure have appreciated your help.

Have a blessed day - and a Happy Fathers' Day if you are one.

Tom
