That would be a decent board for those components. You should be able to OC very well with it.

I would go with the Z97 board. No reason to get a Z87 board now with the new Z97's out now. Future proof your self. The Z87 board will not suppport the new "devil's canyon" CPU's that are starting to come out. Plus they have the new sata express features and the new M2 socket versions. Sata express looks like it blows the sata3 out of the water with a lot faster speeds.

The z97 MSI g45 gaming is $149 at newegg. While I'm an Asus fan, and the A board is a great board, in this is go for the MSI z97, then the Asus A, then the MSI z87.

With that i7-4790K CPU, you need a 97 MB. The 87 boards do not support those new devil's canyon CPU's.

Possibly sometime in the future some 87 MB's might have a bios update to support the new CPU's. But now they don't support them.
