Im looking to get a cheapish but really good 2gig graphics card for my older computer, to play mostly old games at high framerates with graphics maxed out, but also would like to play newer games a bit. What is the best value card at the moment? Radeon HD7750? if I choose Radeon, whats the best one at the moment? If you would choose one to pimp out an old computer, what would you choose?

Solution
Well, either way I suppose it doesn't matter. You either get a psu now or later when the earthwatts dies on you.

A r9 270 will take around 140w at peak and your cpu is around 125w. So this should be alright.

Its an AMD Phenom II, has 2gig of Ram but might be upgrading that, using an IBM 21/22" CRT monitor, it looks best at 1600X1200 at 85 or 120hz, but the higher resolution 2048X1500 or whatever looks good too, but probably wont use it, 1290X960 is very good also.
So I guess it would have to have a VGA or DVI with analog output.

It has a really cool Motherboard with 3 PCI-e ports, Digital Optic output, and 500w powersupply - which is apparently a good quality one that delivers good power? Can't remember but it is apparently good. - not sure how much some video cards need now.

Ok so it looks like your PSU should be able to take it based on this.

The r9 270

For a system using a single Radeon R9 270 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 29 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector.

Your PSU
The +12 V output is produced by two Schottky rectifiers connected in parallel, which can deliver up to 30A each.

hmm well, depends on a lot of things. The usage on the card or if the PSU will be able to handle an OC'd gpu.

An OC'd 7870 will beat an r9 270x by a bit IIRC.

Buying used stuff always has risks, but if you are comfortable with it then go for it :)

It seems so far with looking that the r9 270x and the gtx 750 ti are good price performance, I might not go second hand.

Im kind of liking old games at 1600x1200 running at over 100fps for my fast monitor! that's what im enjoying, as soon as the games get newer you need to spend fair bit of money to enjoy them at a high resolution.
