Okay, so I'm building my first gaming desktop. I want to be able to play on ultra on alot games. So far I have bought the case, next I was going to buy the motherboard and the powersupply.

I understand every other component of a desktop except for the motherboard, there are so many features I cant decide what would be best. I don't know how to overclock so overclocking isnt really on my list of a must have motherboard. But what I do want it to have is:

1) hdmi slot
2) 4 usb 3.0 slots
3) ethernet slot
4) 12-16gb ram capacity DDR3 1600MHz 240-pin (if its more it doesnt bother me)
5) SLI , Crossfire
6) LGA 1150 socket (using intel I7 4770 quad core)
7) AND a must is support up to 4 fans, 6 would be GREAT! (unless do some fans hook up to the PSU? My last desktop only had 2 small fans, one 140 mm and one 120mm that the motherboard could take)

The ones I have found so far are

1)MSI ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-G45 GAMING

2)ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

The main problem I'm having is I dont know how many fans they support. How do you tell? If you have any other motherboards that you think would work better please give your input, much appreciated

Well, It's just my opinion, but I think as long as you have a nice $60-80+ cpu cooler that will do more good than having excess amounts of fans. I mean unless you are doing 5.0+ gzh overclocks then sure you would want more. Anyways just thought i'd mention.

Hmm, I guess since you want SLI the boards pretty much have to be z87/z97

Have a look through these and see if you can find better options

Both the motherboards you selected are meant for overclocking. h97's are the non-overclocking boards

I think the first 4 things you mentioned come on almost all 1150's in the 70-$100

Just a curiosity, why the need for some many fans?

Well the case came with 4, with option to have up to 7, I'll probably add 1 so I'll have 5 but just in case I want the support for 6. The reason I want it, my last desktop I had overheated and fried the graphics and processor. Since I decided to build my own I got a HAF case and I'll be putting in a high end graphics card. So it's basically just safety measures.

p.s the desktop that fried was an older desktop with very poor airflow, only 1 way for air to enter and exit with only 2 very small fans
