Ok guys and girls im back.
I just recently ran into a weird problem either today or yesterday out of nowhere i boot up my pc and i have lines running up my monitor i believe there is only 2 of them one is faded white and the other is faded dark it kinda reminds me of and old tv that is warming up or the signal is bad but the lines on my monitor are consistent i do not believe it to be my monitor because it is a 42 inch flat screen tv and the lines are only in my vga source. they go away if i go to my cable tv source or if i unplug the cord connecting to my graphics card from my tv/monitor the weird thing is ive changed resolutions and refresh rates and that does seem to have an impact on the situation i am currently running it at 1280 by 768 and cant change the refresh so its stuck on 60hz but if i change it to 1360 by 768 at 60hz they will move a little bit slower but if i change the refresh rate to 76hz they go up my screen considerably faster so fast in fact i cant tell if the lines are moving up or down my screen and they are on my desktop my internet browser and in games i am really hoping it is not my new graphics card that i got less than 3 months ago it is a nvidea gtx 750 ti please if there is someone out there that has experienced this and solved it or knows what the problem is please help me solve this

my specs are
win 7 64bit home premium
gigabyte mobo
amd fx(tm)-6100 six-core processor 3.3 GHz 3.9 GHz turbo
550w psu
8 gb (2x4gb) ripjaw gaming ram
evga nvidea gtx 750 ti graphics card

ok so ive made a small breakthrough but still havnt solved this mystery yet. by going into my video control panel and selecting the create custom resolution button i can mess with the refresh rate. for instance my refresh rate is at 60hz but if i change it ever so slightly to say a 59.995hz or 60.005hz i can either speed the lines up revers them or freeze the lines in place to where they move so slow you cant even notice them moving unless you watch them for a minute or so but still i havnt solved this yet because they havnt gone away just slowed them a bit

well i tried my hdmi cable to no avail my screen wont even come on i believe because lightning hit my house at one point in time and burnt out my last pc and i had a hdmi cable in it at the time and probably shorted out the 2 hdmi slots in the back of my flat screen so im stuck with vga. i just tried using an old graphics card i put away and the situation is the same on that card also the weird thing is though i might have narrowed down the possibilities. i accidentally knocked my foot against my pc tower and it fixed itself for a few minutes then went back to the same thing but the lines were wider this time. the lines are transparent before and now. so i tapped the side of my tower where the mobo is on with the strength of someone patting someone else on the back and it fixed itself. i did that whilst typing this msg actually and it is fixed for now but i would really like to solve this problem so it doesnt reaccure so im not going to mark this thread down as solved yet. please if someone can help since ive narrowed down the possibilities maybe someone out there knows whats wrong now

scratch that the problem is still there even after i tapped my tower its just the lines are alot fainter now you have to look for them really hard i also only notice one line now and it blinks as it goes slowly from bottom to top ive also noticed and forgot to mention is there is a faint bar on the left side of my screen that is vertical not moving transparent and about the width of my taskbar and is still there even after the lines got fainter from me tapping my tower lol and i also neglected to mention is that alot of people would say on other forums is that they would notice them only in dark parts of the screen well thats not my case i see them on both white and black backgrounds heck i see them on all colors

i only have one seat for the evga nvidia geforce gtx 750ti and i already took it out cleaned it and put in a old graphics card and the same thing happened so i put the newer one back in. ive been reading a little bit and im wondering if it might be a sync issue between the monitor and the mobo or the monitor and the graphics card and i dont believe its the graphics card because it did the same thing on an older geforce card i have. what i can do is see if i can rule out one of the 2 either monitor or something in the pc by bringing in another monitor but i dont think its the monitor because like i posted earlier is that my monitor is my cable tv also and it dosnt do this on that and the lines go away when i pull the cable out of the graphics card ill post back with the results here in about 10 minutes

yes actually you might be on to something i have a vga component slot that is the same shape as the vga slot just the holes in it are spaced differently and i have i believe 2 differant rca spots you know the red yellow and white cords and i have a bunch of stuff like rca slots but there different colors i believe the're there for like maybe a sub or surround sound but i might be wrong and i believe there is also a couple of usb ports on it to but there isnt a source on the source menu for those . is there anything out there like a dvi or hdmi to rca converter and will i still get dvi or hdmi quality with them???
