A few months ago I bought the Raidmax 530ss modular power supply. Today I decided to check if it actually works, so I took it straight out of the box and plugged it into the wall with the power cord that came with it. It didn't turn on. The LED fan would not work either. I tried several plug-ins and I could not get it to work. Does this mean I have a dead power supply?

(Note: If it's dead I'm definitely going to get a Tier 1 power supply, lel.)

Solution
The Radeon HD 7850 requires a psu with 21A on the +12v rail and a 500W psu minimum
i would go for a psu of 600-700 watts for some headroom and for your overclock
I would suggest any psu from
seasonic/xfx or any PSU fro corsairs TX,HX or AX range of PSU's or coolermasters V series
all of these PSU's Have high grade japanese capacitors
EDIT: look for the best price of these psu's make sure it is modular if you desire and you
should be fine
Hi Chester Buttbeard
It is possible you have a DOA ( dead on arrival ) PSU
I am assuming you turned on the power switch on the back of the PSU ?
The Raidmax 530ss modular power supply is a low quality PSU and has low grade capacitors , i am in agreement with i7baby
i would replace that psu with a quality one ,
what are your full system specs we can recommend a PSU for you

I haven't built it my new computer yet, so no damage is done. However when built my specs will be:
-Athlon 750k (overclocked)
-Radeon 7850 3gb
-Kingston Hyper Blu (2x4) 1600mhz Memory

I thought about getting the Cosair Builder 600w 80+ bronze power supply in replacement, which was $10 cheaper than my DOA Raidmax... *facepalm*
