I've just rebuilt my desktop around this new motherboard, but the system won't start up. When I power it on I get DVD drive activity, fan activity, and a light on the motherboard, but no picture and no keyboard and mouse activity. In the past if a build won't start up I've found the problem with the system header panel, but I've reversed what I thought was the positive/negative/ground setup and it still won't work.
Part of the problem is I don't have the manual for the Tower, and the header plugs don't have + or - marked on them. On the three plugs (reset switch, power switch and HDD led) each has a coloured wire and a black wire. Any idea which is positive, negative or ground? what are the conventions on this?

Solution
The black wire is always either negative or ground, it may be those connections problem. You need check the MB manual for connecting those front panel connectors.

While that was helpful, it turned out that there was a riser pushing into the back of the motherboard that I didn't see at first.
