Hello there,

My system was:
PSU: Antec HCG-520 M series
CPU: AMD 4170
Mainboard: MSI 970A-G45
RAM: 4 sticks of DDR3 4GB (16GB total)
GPU: ASUS GTX 750 ti
1Tb SSD
Was getting about 20 FPS in a heavily modded skyrim with enbs and around 10 FPS on 3dMark11.

Today I upgraded to:
Corsair 750w PSU
MSI GTX 770 2CGB/OC

And... No increase in performance... at all.... same FPS in both programs....WTF? as i understand it the jump from 750 to 770 is HUGE...and the guys at Frys that i talked to at length all told me my CPU was just fine for this card so... where did i go wrong? I went from a $150 card to a $330 card with no increase in performance.... at this point thinking about going back to the 750 ti cuz... this is not worth it.

The problem is that your CPU is holding you back big time, you need to upgrade to a better CPU and then you will seen much better frame rates and will see the 770 well and truly out perform the 750ti

You definitely need a new CPU like Nuckles_56 said.

...damn you Frys.... ok then, i dont understand this. if i start task manager and go to performance and watch my CPU while in game, it dosent seem like its under heavy load. about 50% usage.

You could go with the fx-6300 or the fx8320 depending on your budget, and with those processors, you won't need a new motherboard as well
