DirectX12 Games Compatibility

Nvidia claims DX12 API will be supported for their current DX11 Graphics Cards.
However some websites claimed some of features will be hardware specific.
My question is if a game release based on DirectX 12 will it run on DX11 cards? (i.e. Watch Dogs only runs on DX11 cards. Will such this thing happened for DX11 cards?)

Modern graphics cards are extremely reprogrammable. I'm not up to date on what DirectX 12 will bring with it but it's entirely possible that vendors such as AMD and NVidia will be able to include the new features on existing hardware through either driver tweaks or GPU microcode updates. Performance may not be as good as a device that was designed to support those features natively, but it may still work.
