i7Baby :
Everything has its place. AMD for low end / low cost cpus. Intel for high end.
I've got an i7 3930k - Intel - because that's the best value for a high end cpu within my budget. None of the AMD can match it. It runs cool.
That is the terrible illusion everyone that owns and Intel have. First of all if you only buy an i7 for gaming and running multi-threaded application, an AMD FX 8350 can do the same thing as efficiently as an i7 can. AMD is not low end, AMD is aiming for different sector of the consumer market.
You get similar performance and fps using FX 9000 and i7 4770k. There are "real performance benchmarks" on youtube from JayZ and others.
Intel does better at floating calculations and surpasses intel, and AMD does better at point-to-point calculations.
Intel only benefits in real performance if you are using an extremely CPU stressing applications, otherwise games, 3d / video render, it doesn't make that much of a difference.
