Can you increase hard drive rpm? I have a 7,200 rpm main drive, could I make it 10,000 rpm and have it still function fully?

That would be rather cool.
 
No.

Some drives may let you adjust the Advanced Power Management or Advanced Acoustic Management level of the drive, which balance power and noise vs performance. Don't know what defaults are. Can be set using the linux/unix hdparm command with options -B and -M. Do NOT try this without reading the man pages. Some of the other commands can completely render inoperable the drive. I would not want to risk it.
