Hey all you tech gurus out there! In this thread, I will have some questions about my CPU and the curiosity-inducing phenomenon of over clocking. I have read that the FX 6300 has a 4.1 ghz. Turbo mode, and I suppose that would be a good place to start, since it is endorsed by AMD. First of all, is the turbo mode safe for moderate, 1-2 hour gaming sessions? I play Planetside 2, BF4, and Titanfall, which seem to be CPU hungry. Thanks for any replies.

Use the AMD feature manager software to help overclock your processor .

Once you have done that you can try lowering voltages , which might lower the temperature a little .

How high an OC you get depends on the cooler you use and how much you are prepared to tolerate noise

Ok. I guess I'll look up some how to's for AMD Overdrive. I also wanted to point out that my CPU claims to be running at 33 degrees Celsius with the stock fan and no overclocking. Is that an acceptable temperature? And should overclocking for just an hour or so be safe? My mobo claims to be "unlocked" so I can reach higher speeds.

Any temp under 60C is perfectly fine . Pushing it a bit over that probably wont kill it but may start to shorten its life

How far you can OC is totally dependent on how well cooled the chip is . Expect 4.1 or 4.2 Ghz on the stock cooler .But also expect it to be really LOUD

AMD feature manager ups the speed in small steps till it detects unsafe temps . Its ideal for easy OCing
