So guys I have a Pentium 4 geforce 9500gt machine that I have not used for a while but I have the opportunity to buy a C2Q Q6600 and Gtx 570 for 150$...is this good value?
I have a G41m-vs3 r2 from asrock so can I use tape mod on CPU and are the CPU and mobo compatible?

I will buy a high end gaming rig in 8-10 month and will leave this to my little brother..
I will be playing mostly FIFA and Skyrim and I have 4 GB ddr3 ram that will be upgraded to 8 GB

i'd say go for it CPU is ok but much better than the p4 and make sure to get a better cooler too and GPU is great it might get bottlenecked by the core 2 quad

and this is the GPU compared to another gpu that is a good $100 -150 more expensive
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-270-vs-GeForce-GTX-570

so in consultation go for it that is a great deal saving a bit of money and bear in mind that GPU alone would be $250 at least

My old PC is a Q6600@3.4, 8GB GSkill @1066, HD5850 1GB and Asus P5Q-E. My RAM in E-Bay is at 80€, CPU at 40€ and motherboard for about 50+€. I would sey YES, go for it. I can play Skyrim with HD mods at Ultra (and lot of tweaks) at minimum 24 frames/s (average 40). Metro Last Light at medium at 1080p (well... playable.). And for productivity (Photoshop, Word, Excel, 3D Studio...) is a powerfull PC still today.
