2.5 sata HDD external hard drive

Hi folks. i've got a bit of a problem, and just wondered if anyone as come across this one before. I have a 2.5 sata external hard drive, for which i have put into it's own caddy. My idea was to download all our music for my family and use it in our family car [vauxhall zafari]. I've put some music to the hard drive, and pluged it into the car's audio system. It then came up with THIS DEVICE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Does anyone have any ideas were i've gone wrong. many thanks in andvance...D4DAD :-]
