no connections after system restore

Got duped by a fake java update virus/spyware. Did a system restore and now it tells me no connections are available. I try to troubleshoot and it tells me an error has occurred and won't open. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry pretty much a total noob.. Get to device manager through right click on my computer and then manager.. lists about 18 things.. battery, computer, disk drives, display adapters, etc. Don't see any exclamation marks

WiFi assistant tells me wireless LAN is on. When I open network and sharing center and try to connect to a network it just tells me no connections available.
