since i already bought them (they are used and not updated to the latest firmware) should i use them as seperate drives. that would make it possible to enable TRIM too and thats good right?

maybe i can put them in raid 1 instead, but is it a high chanse of a ssd failing?

1. Disconnect WD
2. Flash SSD's to latest firmware, then remove one.
3. Reconnect WD
4. Clone WD to SSD
5. Set SSD as primary boot drive.
6. Wipe WD and use as long term storage disk.

Your SSD will lose performance if you run it in raid 0 with a HDD and your HDD won't gain very much performance through raid 0 with an SSD.

You can easily use them as independent drives. I have 2 SSD's (128 kingston and 128 SanDisk), with no problem.
The Kingston is OS and applications, the Sandisk is working files and a game or two.
Music/video/backups/etc live on spinning drives.

Yes, but I would suggest flashing them only one at a time, then the other.

so only connect one ssd at a time and install the firmware and disconnect and do the same for the other?

how exactly does the flashing procces work and how do i flash one at a time?

Be sure that your computer is shut down and unplugged!
1) Disconnect all SATA devices, except CD/DVD
2) Connect one SSD that you wish to flash and plug in power
3) Insert your boot device : CD?DVD disk OR USB flash drive
4) Boot into the flash program
5) Follow directions and prompts in the flashing program
6) When the program indicates that you have successfully flashed the SSD, shut down and unplug the power source
7) Disconnect the SSD that you have just flashed and connect the second SSD
8) Plug in the power and repeat steps 3) through 6)
9) Reconnect SATA devices with boot drive on port SATA_0
10) Restore power and boot into BIOS
11) Establish proper boot order of SATA devices, Save and exit BIOS
12) Reinstall or clone your OS
